Obesity Clinic CGG

The Obesity Clinic CGG (Healthy Weight Centre), located in Rotterdam, is the headquarters of the cooperation between paediatricians, internal medicine specialist and surgeons from three hospitals. The centre is focused on providing care for children and adults with (serious) obesity. These healthcare specialists work together to offer the best possible care, at the right location. They strive to provide an innovative and effective approach to battle (serious) obesity, as well as cooperate on scientific research into obesity (care). The Obesity Clinic CGG aims to provide tailor-made care, adapted to the client's individual characteristics. The level of cooperation and the broad scope are what makes this a unique institute.

Each of the participating hospitals is able to provide excellent care to patients with (serious) obesity. The range of care elements provided by the hospitals varies:

Participating Hospitals

This academic hospital focuses on diagnostics and treatment of rare causes of obesity.

Children with (serious) obesity and suspected hormonal, syndromic or genetic causes can be referred by medical specialists for diagnostics and treatment advice at the Obesity Clinic CGG. The professionals search for an intervention that best suits the client, as close to home as possible.

Internal Medicine

Screening and treatment advice for adults with (serious) obesity, as wells as related and causative disorders, at the Obesity Clinic CGG.

Bariatric surgery

At the Obesity Centre, adults with serious obesity can be treated with weight reduction surgery (gastric bypass). The goal: to improve the quality of life and to alleviate any health problems.

The outpatient clinic for paediatric medicine offers screening and treatment advice for children with (serious) obesity.

Internal Medicine

Screening and treatment advice for adults with (serious) obesity and related disorders.

Bariatric surgery

At the Bariatric Expertise Centre, adults with serious obesity can be treated with weight reduction surgery (gastric bypass). The goal: to improve the quality of life and to alleviate any health problems.

Children with (serious) obesity can go to the outpatient clinic for paediatric medicine for screening, treatment advice, and potential treatment at the Dikke Vrienden Club.

Scientific Research

Scientific research into obesity (care) is necessary to improve the level of care for children and adults with (serious) obesity. The medical specialists at the three hospitals work together on scientific research within the Obesity Clinic CGG. By sharing knowledge, expertise and volume, the centre delivers an important and prominent contribution to the (preventative) care for people suffering from obesity.
